Good news: after successfully defending her MSc thesis on the identification of biomarkers of disease susceptibility in salamanders, Emma Yoon will continue as a PhD student in our team! Here, she describes the goals of her future doctoral research:
“For my PhD, I will build upon the foundation of my master’s research, which focused on identifying biomarkers associated with chytrid infections. Specifically, I will employ advanced biotechnological and glycoproteomic techniques to characterize the molecular composition of Batrachochytrium salamandrivorans (Bsal) receptors. My aim is to delineate the currently elusive physical interactions at the host-parasite interface. I intend to further explore the molecular mechanisms that govern Bsal infection dynamics, with a particular emphasis on identifying host defense factors that contribute to resistance”
We’re so happy to keep you with us Emma!
