New expertise unlocked for the GLOSSI team

Last week, Emma and Ruth had the opportunity to dip their toes (and then quickly jump all in!) into the world of proteomics at the Belgian Proteomics Association (BePA) Summer School, hosted at VIB. What started as a curiosity turned into an incredibly enriching and inspiring week.

Here is their feedback: "In our work, we aim to use proteomics to investigate the proteins involved in the initial host-pathogen interaction. Before penetration and invasive growth in the host skin can occur, motile fungal spores require adherence to the epithelium. This initial interaction is a prerequisite for Bsal colonization and is still far from being fully understood. Attending the summer school gave us new perspectives and ideas on how proteomics could help unravel these early interactions.

The program itself was a perfect balance of knowledge and community. From learning new things to connecting with engaging scientists, the summer school was both inspiring and fun. The trainers not only shared their expertise with great clarity but also created a fantastic learning atmosphere that encouraged questions, discussions, and exchange of ideas. We left with fresh ideas, renewed motivation, and a lot of gratitude for everyone who contributed to making the BePA Summer School such a valuable and enjoyable experience."
